Gilberto has a Master’s degree in Commercial Law, he is a Lawyer, Public Notary and arbitrator duly authorized by the Mediation and Arbitration Center of the local Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He has specialized in all the fields of Intellectual Property matters: trademarks, patents, copyrights, industrial secrets, etc. In both protection and defense of Intellectual Property assets, Gilberto has a vast experience in all IP categories. His experience of eighteen years includes advising in clearance of marks, post-registration procedures such as renewals, changes of name and domicile, assignments and license of use procedures. Also, he is well-known for answering objections, rejections or refusals and for obtaining the admission of trademark applications that fells in likelihood of confusion with other registered marks. Accordingly, hi has a large experience in complex oppositions, appeals, reverting petitions, contentious administrative trials and any other judicial trials such as cancellation actions and unfair competition actions. He also manages judicial criminal actions based of counterfeiting. His expertise in complex judicial and administrative procedures is well-known by national and international clients.
Gilberto has been chosen many times as recommended lawyer in band 1 in prestigious directories such as LACCA Approved and Chambers & Partners. He is member of the Intellectual Property Inter-American Association (ASIPI) and board member of the Intellectual Property Salvadorian Association (ASPI). In the past he was for many years the Head of the Intellectual Property Division of one of the largest legal firms in El Salvador. Since 2018 he joint Rivera Rodriguez Fajardo and became Partner of the firm. Also, Gilberto is Arbitrator in Law, and his a well-known writer with more than five published poetry books.
